Make it step by step
- Step 01
Build a roughly 40 × 60 cm sample frame on a table. Lash its corners and add a diagonal brace to prevent skewing.
- Step 02
Tie vertical slats with space to weave leaves without tearing. Avoid irritating plants or unknown sap.
- Step 03
Weave leaves over and under the slats, or tie stems in rows. Leave small airflow gaps.
- Step 04
Rest it against a stable low support and compare its shadow. Do not suspend above people, and put it away when windy.
Check before use
Stems stay attached, the frame resists twisting and no sharp ends protrude.
Limits of this project
A demonstration, not rated UV or rain protection. Dry leaves burn and panels catch wind.
Take down and restore
Untie and take the prepared leaves home for disposal; leave no screen behind.
All lashings and racks here are for light objects, never people, climbing or rescue.
