Make it step by step
- Step 01
Observe natural runoff and roof drip lines. Choose a protected position without digging drainage trenches.
- Step 02
Set a stable low platform and remove splinters. If unavailable, use waterproof containers suitable for the ground.
- Step 03
Separate wet and dry gear. Put essentials in dry bags and close them exactly as their manufacturer directs.
- Step 04
Keep space from tarp edges and avoid pushing gear into the roof. Sprinkle water outside and inspect beneath the platform.
Check before use
Closures are complete, roof runoff misses the gear and essentials remain accessible.
Limits of this project
A roof does not waterproof everything. Store food according to local wildlife rules.
Take down and restore
Wipe and air the gear, pack out bases and bags, and check for packaging scraps.
All lashings and racks here are for light objects, never people, climbing or rescue.
