Make it step by step

  1. Step 01

Use only permitted materials. Do not disturb trail markers or animal habitat. Avoid slopes and cliff edges.

  2. Step 02

Pad sharp contact points. Loop and secure the strap around a shape it cannot easily slide off, following the strap's fastening method.

  3. Step 03

Set the rock broad-side down. Keep the pull low and aimed through its centre rather than tipping it upwards.

  4. Step 04

Connect the guyline and increase hand tension gradually. If the rock rolls, slides or the strap slips, change the anchoring system.

Check before use

No movement along the pull direction, no sharp cord contact and no trip hazard.

Limits of this project

No rock size guarantees wind resistance. Never use for hammocks or life safety, or handle dangerously heavy rocks.

Take down and restore

Release tension first. Return moved rocks as directed by the land manager.

Practise in an area where building activities are permitted. Bring materials or obtain permission to collect them. Do not cut living trees or dig tent trenches. Take projects apart afterwards.
All lashings and racks here are for light objects, never people, climbing or rescue.
