Make it step by step
- Step 01
Choose a crack-free, mould-free section. Mark a cut just below the lower node so its internal wall becomes the base.
- Step 02
Clamp securely. Cut the top below the next node to create an open mouth. Do not puncture the bottom node.
- Step 03
Sand the rim and base, brush out debris and dry fully. Check that the base remains continuous.
- Step 04
Load only light dry items. Cover with cloth and tie it down. Tilt over a table to check that contents stay inside.
Check before use
The bottom is intact, the rim is smooth and there is no damp smell.
Limits of this project
Not waterproof or insect-proof. Do not cook in it or heat a sealed bamboo section.
Take down and restore
Take home for reuse, air after trips and retire it if mould develops.
All lashings and racks here are for light objects, never people, climbing or rescue.
