Make it step by step
- Step 01
Choose sound wood. Make legs roughly 60–80 cm long with smooth ends. Set up on level ground away from paths.
- Step 02
Cross each leg pair near the top. Lash the crossing, tighten with turns between the poles and secure the end. Open two A-frames.
- Step 03
Seat and secure the top rail in both forks. Lash a cross brace between each pair of legs to limit spreading.
- Step 04
Hang a light cloth centrally first, then distribute small objects. If it rocks, shorten the span or reset the legs instead of adding counterweights.
Check before use
All four feet contact the ground, joints resist rotation and no sharp ends project at eye level.
Limits of this project
No hot pans, exposed blades, heavy objects or use as a handrail.
Take down and restore
Remove objects first, undo knots and pack out cord and prepared components.
All lashings and racks here are for light objects, never people, climbing or rescue.
