Make it step by step
- Step 01
Lay the poles parallel with their feet aligned. Reject rotten or cracked pieces.
- Step 02
Start a clove hitch on an outside pole near the top. Weave cord alternately in front of and behind the three poles; see the tripod-lashing guide.
- Step 03
Tighten between the poles and finish the hitch. Open the legs into a triangle and connect the lower legs with cord to limit spreading.
- Step 04
Hang the bag from the apex over the centre of the footprint. Nudge from several directions. Lower or unload any unstable frame.
Check before use
Feet do not slip, the lashing cannot slide off and the bag stays within the footprint.
Limits of this project
Not a cooking tripod, lifting device or overhead suspension point.
Take down and restore
Remove the bag before undoing knots. Keep fingers clear while folding the legs.
All lashings and racks here are for light objects, never people, climbing or rescue.
