Make it step by step
- Step 01
Identify working end A and the standing part. For an overhand knot, form a loop, cross A over the standing part, pass A through and dress it. This teaches a basic knot, not an anchor.
- Step 02
For a clove hitch, take A around the pole once. Cross over the standing part to form an X, circle the pole again and tuck A beneath the new diagonal. Dress the two turns side by side.
- Step 03
For a round turn and two half hitches, circle the pole twice. Take A around the standing part and through its own loop, then repeat in the same direction.
- Step 04
Leave graspable tails, tighten and dress. Apply and release gentle tension several times. Compare with the reference drawings; change the attachment if it slips.
Check before use
You can identify both rope parts, the knots match the reference and they hold the light test load.
Limits of this project
Clove hitches can slip under changing loads. None of these instructions creates a climbing, rescue or hammock system. Schematic drawings do not replace instruction.
Take down and restore
Untie, dry and pack out the rope; do not leave it around trees.
All lashings and racks here are for light objects, never people, climbing or rescue.
