Make it step by step
- Step 01
Inspect the cord and rail. Fold the cord in half to form a central bight.
- Step 02
Take both free ends around the rail and through the bight, then snug the lark's head onto the rail.
- Step 03
Tie both ends together with an overhand knot, leaving a loop for the clip and adequate tails. Do not trim close to the knot.
- Step 04
Clip on an empty, cool mug above the ground and away from passing people. Move it gently to test.
Check before use
The end knot cannot pass through the clip and the loop cannot slide off the rail.
Limits of this project
No hot drinks, knives or heavy gear. An accessory clip is not a climbing carabiner.
Take down and restore
Remove the clip and cord rather than leaving a loop on a branch.
All lashings and racks here are for light objects, never people, climbing or rescue.
